Where Is The Soapstock After Refining Cottonseed Oil?
Time:Mon-11-21 hits:
Soapstock is a by-product of alkali refining of animal and vegetable oils and is a product of the deacidification process. Soapstock mainly contains fatty acid salts, that is, fatty acid sodium produced by the reaction of free fatty acids in the oil and sodium hydroxide. Soap feet contain less neutral oil and more pigments and electrolytes.
For example, after cottonseed oil is refined, soap feet will remain. And it will contain gossypol, which is not edible.
So where did the soapfoot go in the end?
1. Soap Feet Can Be Used As Biodiesel.
The soapstock is modified and compounded with chemical raw materials to form a transparent liquid fuel whose color is basically the same as that of diesel. The anti-knock performance of biodiesel is better than that of petrochemical diesel. The oxygen content is high, the amount of oxygen required in the combustion process is less than that of petrochemical diesel, and the combustion and ignition performance are better than that of petrochemical diesel. It is a renewable energy source with good biodegradability and good health and environmental performance.
Moreover, the flash point of biodiesel is higher than that of petrochemical diesel, which is conducive to safe transportation and storage.
2. Soapstock Can Extract Fatty Acids.
, Fatty acid is an important basic chemical raw material in the world's industrial products. Its usage in plastics, surfactants, textiles, leather and other fields has shown a steady growth year by year. Compared with other oil crops, the palmitic acid content in cottonseed oil is 24.7%.
There are three common methods for preparing fatty acids with soap feet, namely, acid hydrolysis, saponification and acid hydrolysis, and hydrolysis and acidification.
The soapstock after refining cottonseed oil can be used to make detergents, fatty acid products, etc., and can also be used to make biodiesel.
